RRHOF inductee ratings & observations: #7
Today we'll be looking at the Class of 2022. Let's start shall we!
Number Ratings:
10/10 = Legends & Icons
9/10 = All Time Greats
8/10 = No Brainers
7/10 = Proven Performers
6/10 = Best of the Rest
5/10 = Average/Borderline
4/10 = Marginal
3/10 = Mediocre
2/10 = Not even worth mentioning
1/10 = Not deserving without a ticket
0/10 = 💣
Performers:
Pat Benatar
6/10
Her music is good & she defined the MTV generation, but her influence on music is borderline at it's finest & her discography isn't as historically/culturally important like the ones by artists who were inductees themselves.
Duran Duran
7/10
DD were a band who made Music Videos became popular all thanks to theirs appearing on MTV thus defining a generation even though their popularity is based on one album. They influenced such acts like The Killers, Justin Timberlake, Janelle Monae & others to do similar things.
Eminem
10/10
Probably the most important figure in rap since Jay-Z, he made the genre more mainstream all thanks to bringing it to become more diverse not to mention his legendary performances throughout.
Eurythmics
7/10
A duo whose influence on popular music seems pretty above average, they were also responsible for the 80's MTV generation. They only had two remarkable albums followed by few known songs but it's better than nothing.
Dolly Parton
9/10
Parton might be country but she's definitely rock & roll by attitude, cultural impact & influence. She inspired the likes of Whitney Houston, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift & other women to make a name for themselves.
Lionel Richie
6/10
Nothing against his solo induction but LR should have been in with The Commodores as they're a band that made him what he was.
Carly Simon
5/10
The reason why Simon got inducted is because the Hall wanted another Carole King moment like in 2021, nothing against CS but her discography didn't stood the test of time & her artistic influence is somewhat marginal.
Additional:
Judas Priest
8/10
A band known for twin guitar attack, Judas Priest are among acts that defined Heavy Metal & made it an legitimate art form. They influenced the likes of Metallica, Megadeth & others.
Ngl, this was probably one of the most populist classes in the history but it turned out great in the end.
