RRHOF 2026: Who would make the ballot.
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026: Who would make the ballot.
It's official: We finally reached 40 years of endless ceremonies, iconic performances & incredible highlights that wouldn't be forgotten. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame isn't always perfect, heck that place doesn't need to be. It has one mission: To honor music history & artists who made it happened with their body of work, that's what it's there for.
They have another mission as well: Being more inclusive with their selections. The Hall is no stranger to controversy surrounding their process. There's a plethora of individuals out there that still couldn't accept the fact that rock & roll isn't white dudes playing guitar solos. It's the spirit, evolution, attitude & diversity that defines the term which is always the case since the 50's.
Finally, the Hall isn't interested in sales & tickets. Ok you're not gonna like what I say, yet it's a truth. Selling records & tickets isn't a main barometer for HOF status, it has nothing to do with true quality & historic resonance. What that means is you have popularity with fans and audiences, nothing more. That doesn't mean you changed the course of music nor it makes you a legend.
Plus this isn't called Hall of Everyone's Personal Favorites, the more people accept it the more it would be less ridiculous. Though it's not gonna stop those morons from screaming about their childhood favorite not being inducted and another one getting in instead. That just shows endless fanaticism & gatekeeping every time and it gets f**king tiring.
Ok, I'll stop raving & ranting. Today I'll be creating a list of artists who might make the ballot in 2026. I'll give out my observations.
New:
Alice in Chains
Boston
Coldplay
Daft Punk
Dr. Dre
Alanis Morrissette
Pink
Diana Ross
Smashing Pumpkins
Luther Vandross
Returning:
Beck
Mariah Carey
Iron Maiden
Joy Division/New Order
Lenny Kravitz
Oasis
Sinead O'Connor
John Prine
The Replacements
Thin Lizzy
Now there's a total of 20 acts on the ballot: Ten first timers and other ten making a return. It's time for my assessments.
1. Four 2 timers Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order & Oasis returning once more following previous nominations.
2. Classic rock representation continues to trend with Boston & Thin Lizzy.
3. Two R&B mavens Diana Ross & Luther Vandross as first time contenders.
4. Soundgarden's slot: Alice in Chains & Smashing Pumpkins would be interesting yet competitive.
5. Only one in Hip Hop: Dr. Dre
6. The RRHOF needs more international acts: Daft Punk would fit the bill.
7. Next year's White Stripes: Coldplay is a sure pick.
8. Beck, Lenny Kravitz, Sinead O'Connor, John Prine & The Replacements' second appearances in the same year? I don't see why not.
9. Put more women: Alanis Morrissette & Pink
Bonus: Who would be the possible next picks for side categories: Influence, Excellence & Ahmet Ertugun Award.
John Coltrane
Devo
Fanny
Ronnie James Dio
Original MTV VJ's
Who knows next induction season would be totally different. Only time will tell.
