RRHOF inductee ratings & observations #5

RRHOF inductee ratings & observations #5

I'm back with inductee ratings, today I'll be going through the Class of 2017. You definitely know the drill so let's go!

Number Ratings:

10/10 = Immortals, Icons & Legends
9/10 = All Time Greats
8/10 = No Brainers
7/10 = Proven Performers
6/10 = Best of the Rest
5/10 = Average/Borderline
4/10 = Marginal
3/10 = Mediocre
2/10 = Not even worth mentioning
1/10 = Not deserving without a ticket
0/10 = 💣

Performers:

Joan Baez

6/10

Great singer - songwriter but nowhere near as the same path as Bob Dylan & Joni Mitchell in the 60's but she did have influence on such artists like Jackson Browne & have recorded songs by other artists.

ELO

5/10

Founded by Jeff Lynne & Roy Wood, they were known for writing rock & pop songs with classical overtones & were the #1 act to hold most Top 20 hits on the Billboard charts without having a #1 hit. They don't have the impact that big as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd, but they did influenced a few bands like Daft Punk, The Flaming Lips & Super Furry Animals.

Journey

4/10

They're among the most popular bands of all time, they have songs that are overplayed on the radio & pretty much inspired the genre that is completely unremarkable & doesn't have much impact. They don't have the same stance as Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd, The Velvet Underground, U2, Ramones, The Clash & others based on "creative" influence & innovation but they did have Steve Perry as one of the most important singers of all time.

Pearl Jam

10/10

They were the second most important band after Nirvana to define Grunge, their debut album Ten outsold Nevermind in the U.S. They might not have the same level as they did with Ten, but they remain as one of the most important bands of the 90's. They influenced acts like Puddle of Mudd & The Strokes.

Tupac Shakur

10/10

Considered as one of the greatest rappers of all time, his style is the stuff of legend. His albums were the influence on the West Coast hip hop scene while also introducing social issues in the genre when gangsta rap was dominant in Mainstream. It's unfortunate that his life & career had been cut short so early but his influence in hip hop in general can't be overstated.

Yes

7/10

They were one of the most misunderstood bands of all time, their music other than two hit songs & a few albums have been unremarkable at some points but they were an influence on the genre & it's follow performers like Rush & Dream Theater. Their musicianship is recognizable as Chris Squire & Steve Howe were considered as two of the most greatest bassists & guitarists of all time.

Like 2016, this class is filled with 70's classic rock veterans however it did help a little with singer songwriter, 90's grunge act & one of the greatest rappers of all time.
