Performers:
Cheap Trick
6/10
CT were one of the most well - known acts of the 70's, they have over 5,000 performances & have one of the most memorable live albums of all time. I can't rank them higher because they don't stand out like the biggest acts such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Queen, David Bowie, Ramones & others, they did influenced bands like The Smashing Pumpkins.
Chicago
6/10
Lots of sales & longevity (countless songs on Hot 100 & beyond), yet their music & influence is underrated/average at the best however they did add elements to their sound.
Deep Purple
8/10
Their music is underperformed & some people know them by that one song, yet other than that, they're among the pioneers in Hard Rock & Heavy Metal. Their influence on those genres & it's performers became remarkable & recognizable. Their live album Made i Japan is considered as one of the best live albums of all time.
Steve Miller
2/10
I literally don't get why he's inducted now that he's against it all thanks to his outburst at the event. He shouldn't not have been nominated at all, besides he's a more than a borderline candidate & he hasn't influenced anyone noteworthy! Replace him with a better artist if I were in charge of the committee. What a garbage induction it is!
N.W.A
9/10
They're one of the leading figures of gangsta rap & one of the most controversial artists of their time, but their influence on the genre is undeniable & instantly recognizable. Their album Straight Outta Compton is considered as one of the albums that came to defined rap as a whole & have influenced a young generation of rappers to do the same.
To be honest, this is one of the most underwhelmed classes. You have mostly classic rock veterans taken over & no women involved. Although N.W.A & Deep Purple are the most important acts, that still doesn't change what I said.
