RRHOF inductee ratings & observations #28

I returned with the ratings & observations of inductees of 2008.

Ratings:
10/10 = Immortals, Icons & Legends
9/10 = All Time Greats
8/10 = No Brainers
7/10 = Proven Performers
6/10 = Best of the Rest
5/10 = Average/Borderline
4/10 = Marginal
3/10 = Mediocre
2/10 = Not even worth mentioning
1/10 = Not deserving without a ticket
0/10 = 💣

Performers:

The Dave Clark Five

5/10

The DC5 were the second biggest band in the british invasion after the Beatles in terms of popularity alone, however when it comes to overall influence it's almost as marginal. What's hurting them is their discography isn't as historically remarkable outside of few hits. I don't mind them being inducted but they're borderline.

Leonard Cohen

8/10

Although not as successful, Leonard Cohen is among the most acclaimed songwriters of all time writing songs that would be covered by numerous artists. He would go on to inspire modern indie acts to write their own music.

Madonna

10/10

Never liked Madonna's music, however she's one of biggest stars in the 80's & beyond given MTV an art quality. She made albums that transcend generations & would definitely changed the course of rock & roll.

John Mellencamp

7/10

Mellencamp was a key figure of heartland rock, his songs including Jack & Diane, Hurts So Good & Pink Houses were staples of the genre. He certainly didn't change anything in rock & roll but he perfected it.

The Ventures

7/10

The instrumental act were known for their distortion & fuzz with their guitars while also selling million records. Their sound launch thousands of bands.

Madonna & Leonard Cohen are the only two that is mostly worth mentioning.
