RRHOF inductee ratings & observations #16
I'm back with the ratings & observations of 2013 inductees.
Ratings:
10/10 = Immortals, Icons & Legends
9/10 = All Time Greats
8/10 = No Brainers
7/10 = Proven Performers
6/10 = Best of the Rest
5/10 = Average/Borderline
4/10 = Marginal
3/10 = Mediocre
2/10 = Not even worth mentioning
1/10 = Not deserving without a ticket
0/10 = 💣
Performers:
Heart
7/10
The Wilson Sisters of Heart are among the most important women in the history of rock & roll, their leadership had inspired modern artists of few genres. However we're talking about the whole band not those two, their music hasn't really stood the test of time as their albums didn't meet standards in terms of historic impact. But then again, influence on Seattle scene.
Albert King
9/10
King definitely is among the most important guitarists in music & he rightfully deserved to be included in the Hall however he could've been in through Early/Musical Influence instead of performer since his contemporary Freddie King got in through that category.
Randy Newman
6/10
This one may be a bit strange given the fact that Randy Newman is more well-known for scoring films most notably Disney/Pixar movies, however he's considered as one of the pop music forces from songwriting standpoint.
Public Enemy
10/10
Now course Public Enemy is rap & the "RAWK" fans would definitely say "they're not rock & roll!" However in terms of attitude, spirit & cultural impact, they definitely are. Their music was just as revolutionary & groundbreaking as it is influential & innovative, their albums not only made rap more powerful but also definitely made it more memorable.
Rush
7/10
The canadian trio was regarded as the most important prog rock band in terms of pop culture alone, their music stood the test of time most recent however they're not on the caliber of most inductees before & after since they defined a genre which isn't exactly that important to rock & roll from an historical standpoint. Nevertheless they influenced bands including Nine Inch Nails, Dream Theater, RATM etc.
Donna Summer
8/10
Again "RAWK" lunatics would be screaming "NOT ROCK & ROLL", Donna Summer made Disco a huge deal by being a Queen in the genre, her songs including Last Dance, I Feel Love & Bad Girls would be go to singles in the era.
A very unique induction year!
