Consider as the queen of R&B, Ruth Brown stands among the artists who brought the genre into mainstream making it a well-known as today standards.
Cream

In their two years being together, Cream is regarded as one of the bands who made psychedelic rock into forms of Hard Rock & Heavy Metal with their guitar wah wah pedal sound. Fellow bands as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple among others would credit them as influencers to those genres.
Creedence Clearwater Revival

A band who broke out of the San Francisco scene, CCR made roots rock as remarkable by taking elements of country & shaped it into a form that would inspire countless artists after them.
The Doors

Jim Morrison & his bandmates would serve as the ones who truly paved the way for other frontmen with their stage presence & unique lyrics with their expiremental sound. They were definitely a big deal to Alternative Music as other bands of the 60's.
Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers

Lymon & The Teenagers were one of the first doo wop groups to experience success, due to their hits being played on rock & roll radio by Alan Freed. With said, their career didn't last long to considered albums as legitimate art forms.

EJ's influence on R&B is very tremendous, artists such as Adele, Rod Stewart, Janis Joplin & others would truly credit her sound & voice as a huge deal to their own songs.
Van Morrison

Morrison is among the most acclaimed artists/singer - songwriters who's clearly visible in the landscape of contemporary pop music by the way he wrote & performed making him a figure to artists including Bruce Springsteen, Elton John & Tom Petty.
Sly & The Family Stone

Sly & The Family Stone took elements of funk, R&B & Motown adding psychedelic rock to their sound, making them game changers in African-American Music. Their innovative sound made a difference for artists of multiple genres including Prince, George Clinton, RHCP, Kool & The Gang among others.
Pretty much almost all of honorees have something unique that definitely left an significant impact on youth culture.
