Final review of who will get honored into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2025.

Final review of who will be making into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2025. 

In retrospect, the powers behind this whole institution (famous yet infamous) Rock & Roll Hall of Fame never disappoints how they choose certain artists for induction while being responsible for bringing evolution, attitude, diversity & spirit into the mix. 

Because rock & roll isn't a color nor based on genre & sound, it's a union that is part of history. Although it doesn't cease to amaze me that so many rock individuals despise the Hall even though it's not their personal jukebox nor record collection. (I mean fanaticism & ignorance are at an all time high.) 

Finally, the Hall isn't there to reward artists for being popular with fans & audiences, it's to recognize the sesmic impact being caused in music industry whereas the trajectory of rock & roll changes throughout. In other words: You could easily tell a story of R&R without artist Y, although not so for artist X. 

So we're not far from the votes being closed & the induction announcement, let's go over the list to see who's made the cut. 

Bad Company 

The Black Crowes 

Mariah Carey 

Chubby Checker 

Joe Cocker 

Billy Idol 

Joy Division/New Order 

Cyndi Lauper 

Mana 

Oasis 

OutKast 

Phish 

Soundgarden 

The White Stripes 

Ok, not a bad list yet it's more rock oriented & women lacking. So let's examine! 

Walk ons & locks: 

Bad Company - I can guarantee the classic rock mavens are gonna be voted in without a problem although they're way far from being among the Parthenon of the Pioneers in rock & roll. Different terms: A Bon Jovi syndrome. 

Mariah Carey - Unsurprisingly, Carey was left out when the Hall announced their inductions last year despite people saying she'll get her due. Maybe this time wouldn't be a repeat of what happened. 

Billy Idol - An appearance at a ceremony would work in favors of the honor & we've seen cases in the last few years most recently first time contender Billy Idol. 100% possibility. 

Cyndi Lauper - She's only one of the two solo women on the list so I don't see Lauper getting passed over once more. 

Oasis - Honestly, I thought this band would be left out following last year, it was definitely a case until late previous August when they announced their reunion comeback. It's gonna be a near lock this time. 

OutKast - The Hall couldn't go another year without hip hop. OutKast is a lone act of the genre on the ballot. Let this be their moment. 

Soundgarden - Really it's their year, there's so much 90's bands up for consideration & Soundgarden is holding up the line. 

Getting closer although not quite there yet: 

Chubby Checker - Expect this performer to be last of the 60's on the ballot. Whether he gets voted in or backdoored is a different story. 

Joe Cocker - A letter from a former Beatle might boost the chance of Cocker being one of them waltzing right in then again I wouldn't go all the way there yet.

Joy Division/New Order - They could possibly sneak in if it weren't too competitive although never say never. If not voted in, then very likely they'll get backdoored. 

Won't be their year, returning eventually: 

Phish - A fan vote winner does not make an inductee at least for the first time. They're getting in at one point, just not at this rate. I get the Hall doesn't want to repeat what happened five years ago although you don't induct someone for that reason alone. 

The White Stripes - This duo might wait by the end of the decade to finally get the call. Expect them to have one more nomination before we go further. 

Thanks for being here, we no longer need your services: 

The Black Crowes - Their nomination just came out of nowhere. Nothing against them, they haven't done anything to earn true Hall of Famer status. This might be their only try although we'll never know. 

Mana - Another one that came out of nowhere yet it's more shocking. Not only it won't be their year, they also won't be inducted at all & would never return on the ballot. Not even side categories would be coming very soon. Unless the institution creates some form of international achievement for those who aren't successful in the states, Mana will be one of the recipients. 

I'm not gonna do side categories since I'll be way more unpredictable. So I'm gonna end it here. See ya towards the end of this month.
