RRHOF biggest snubs!
30 Biggest Rock & Roll Hall of Fame snubs
Today's list would be the biggest Rock & Roll Hall of Fame snubs that needed to be corrected. For this, I'll be focusing on artists who are eligible, but not nominated or inducted although have been on the ballot before.
1. Joy Division/New Order: Considered as post punk/new wave leaders, Joy Division/New Order were a big influence to their contemporaries & later artists who were inductees themselves.
2. Diana Ross: DR would be the 4th woman to receive the 2nd induction since her solo work is just remarkable as her with the Supremes.
3. OutKast: The duo who pushed Southern rap into mainstream with their albums Stankonia & Speakerboxx/The Love Below making OutKast as one of the most important artists during the 00's.
4. Sonic Youth: A band who made indie rock an legitimate art form in the 80's, Sonic Youth are definitely the "Velvet Underground" in the decade based on "influence than sales" caliber. They probably would be nominated but won't get voted in.
5. Pixies: Same reason as Sonic Youth expect they could get voted in. They're an act whose influence remains at large on 90's alternative rock scene with bands including Nirvana, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins & others giving their credit.
6. Iron Maiden: It's very likely that Maiden would have their 3rd nomination & subsequent induction by next year since there's lack of metal in the Hall.
7. The White Stripes: A duo who made rock more relevant as they're responsible for the garage rock revival of the 00's. I would rather see them honored since the Hall is much more concentrating on modern artists for inclusion.
8. Soundgarden: Seattle band Soundgarden are one of the acts who made Grunge a cultural phenomenon with Chris Cornell being one of the greatest singers of all generations.
9. The Replacements: The Mats would help bring alternative rock into a forefront during the 80's along with R.E.M, serving as inspiration for the careers of Nirvana & Green Day.
10. The Smiths: Manchester legends The Smiths are among acts who were responsible for defining alternative rock with their jangly guitar sound paving the way for Oasis, Blur & The Stone Roses.
11. Jane's Addiction: A band are one of the acts who followed the rare method that happened to past honorees including The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, Ramones, Sex Pistols & others: They have less million records sold yet influenced countless artists in alternative music. Plus their frontman created the Lollapalooza festival which became a landmark in pop culture history.
12. Oasis: These guys are one of the leaders of the "britpop" scene & their timeless songs are always well-known. This year was their first nomination & expect them returning sooner than later.
13. Coldplay: In all honestly, putting Coldplay on the ballot for the first time would be interesting given the fact they're among the biggest & most important bands in the last 20+ years making their influence on today's music more relevant. Their possible appearance would make those rockers lose their mind but who cares.
14. Smashing Pumpkins: Among the biggest bands in the 90's, Smashing Pumpkins blended elements of shoegaze, gothic & grunge into their signature sound marking the discography of My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy & Blink - 182.
15. Alice in Chains: Another band who made grunge into an cultural phenomenon with Layne Staley as one of the greatest vocalists. Their time would come, just not right now.
16. Motorhead: A band who mixed punk & metal while they paved the way for thrash metal in the 80's all thanks to the leadership of Lemmy.
17. New York Dolls: They were one of the bands who not only inspired the punk movement, plus the hair metal scene. Hall of Famers including Blondie, GNR & Kiss are cited as the Dolls followers.
18. De La Soul: Along with Tribe, De La Soul are highly regarded among the groups in the alternative hip hop scene while pushing the genre into greater heights.
19. Wu-Tang Clan: A collective who released one of the most recognizable debut albums in music are credited for revitalizing east coast hip hop.
20. Warren Zevon: Definitely one of the biggest collaborators in rock & roll history while also being a figure in the whole "70's California" sound. A perfect example for Musical Excellence category.
21. Daft Punk: Electronic music is well unrepresented in the Hall & it took Kraftwerk 6 nominations only to end up getting inducted through Early Influence. With said, Daft Punk would definitely be the next one on the ballot but might have the same problem like KW.
22. Cyndi Lauper: One of the artists who defined the 80's MTV generation with her innovation & music videos.
23. Mariah Carey: I actually thought Carey will be an FYN inductee this year, however I'm guessing that they cannot wait on MJB any longer. With said, the continuous omission of MC cannot be ignored & let next year finally be her claim to victory.
24. Alanis Morrissette: Now her refusal to appeared at the 2022 ceremony may somewhat hurt her chances but she will be an obvious pick when it comes to more women in the Hall.
25. Thin Lizzy: Irish rockers Thin Lizzy are well known for their dual guitar attack in which inspired countless hard & metal acts including Def Leppard, Alice in Chains & others.
26. TLC: I'll be interesting when the Hall is starting to nominate female hip hop soul acts & TLC might be the first one to ever be on the list.
27. Beck: A singer songwriter whose music has always stood the test of time as he's considered a critic darling with his quirky yet very cool sound.
28. King Crimson: With the definition of Musical Excellence, King Crimson certainly fits the bill since there one of the acts who defined prog & have tight musicianship plus Robert Fripp is among the biggest session musicians.
29. Bjork: With the induction of Kate Bush, it definitely opened the door for interesting artists to be more involved with the Hall & Bjork will be the first Icelandic act on the list.
30. Devo: This band has credentials needed for induction, yet here's a few problems behind their omission. They were seen as an one hit wonder with not enough mainstream heights. It doesn't help when they were against contemporaries with more success. With 3 nominations, it's a matter of time when they'll end up being in as side category honorees.
Honorable mentions: The Chemical Brothers, Ohio Players, Luther Vandross, War, INXS, Black Flag, The Monkees, Jethro Tull, ELP, Liz Phair, Tori Amos, Sting, Phil Collins, Weezer, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Motley Crue
