RRHOF 2024: Who's getting honored & not!

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024: Who gets inducted & who gets snubbed:

Back in February, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced the 2024 nominations. Ngl, the list is a bit dull aimless which is something unusually different compared to previous ballots over the years & I don't expect anything major coming from it.

To be honest, the ballot looks like it's more about popularity, participation & sentimentality rather than artistic merits, legacy star power & anything else and that's something the Hall isn't there for when it comes to certain artists getting recognition regardless of any genres & instruments.

Anyway, since this votes are ending tonight & we're not far off from the induction announcement, here's my take on the nominees & their chances for the honor.

Here's who think will be inducted:

Mariah Carey - I expect it would be her year since the Hall is slowly recognizing modern pop artists & she might join the likes of Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie & George Michael as the FYN inductee.

Cher - Hopefully Cher could get in so we can move on from her debacle about the whole situation with the foundation. Then again, I'm not voting her regardless of any circumstances.

Foreigner - I'll say the Hall should induct this band so we can finally close the door on 70's classic rock era as there's already so many enshrined in the past. You know why not honor artists who have truly changed the entire course of rock & roll!

Kool & The Gang - Maybe the induction of the Spinners last year will work in favor of Kool & The Gang since most of their OG's are long gone.

Lenny Kravitz - He's been a trending theme as of recent when he won multiple accolades & achievements for his work. An RRHOF induction would mark the end of the year cap for him.

Ozzy Osbourne - The only hard rock artist on the ballot, he pretty much won't have competition & will be waltzing right in. Plus it might help with Iron Maiden with their possible recognition for next year. It's a matter of time that he gets his second inducted before he leaves this planet.

A Tribe Called Quest - Usually when it comes to third nominations, it always work for mostly everyone in the past & maybe Tribe would become one of them either it's being voted in or putting them through side category.

If 8th:

Oasis - There's a lot of speculation about this band regarding the unlikely but possible reunion following their nomination. If Oasis gets inducted, then it would be the main highlight of the whole ceremony whether they show up or not.

Solid picks for the side categories: MC5, John Coltrane, Dick Dale, DEVO, Carol Kaye, Lee "Scratch" Perry & Ed Sullivan.

Here's who I think won't be inducted:

Mary J. Blige - Appearently Blige is more deserving of recognition from the RRHOF, however it's not gonna be her year since there's also much competition between others including Carey & Cher on the ballot.

Dave Matthews Band - DMB would end up being fan ballot winners for the second time, yet still isn't gonna convince the voting committee otherwise. I mean they aren't on the league of past honorees including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead & Green Day with whom the voters are very keen on.

Eric B. & Rakim - Tribe would pretty much end up being shoo ins this year making Eric B. & Rakim have less chances and might end up following LL Cool J as the next hip hop act to be included as side category honorees.

Peter Frampton - He only had one relevant album in his entire career wheras his rest was marginal at the least. With said, he'll be a great fit for Musical Excellence just not this year.

Jane's Addiction - I honesty thought it would be the year for Jane's Addiction given the recent induction of Rage Against the Machine, however after further consideration it's very possible they will receive few more nominations before they end up being side category honorees joining the ranks of Kraftwerk, Judas Priest, LL Cool J & Chaka Khan.

Sinead O'Connor - I think O'Connor will wait the next few years before she posthumously gets inducted based on her artistic merits rather than emotion & sentimentality. It's such a shame that she didn't get considered while she was around.

Sade - They'll get there eventually, might be waiting long as Kate Bush did before. Either that would happen or they might be one of the few acts to be nominated but not inducted.

Alright these are my observations, I do think I'll get some right. Other that that, good luck with the inductees choosen.
