Performers:
Buddy Guy
9/10
A guitar virtuoso, Buddy Guy is among the most important figures in modern music & one of the originators of Chicago blues. His guitar playing & sound is so unique that the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, SRV, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck cited him as real influence.
The O'Jays
8/10
The vocal group are a pinnacle of soul music of the 70's, very instrumental in popularizing Philly Soul. They're known for songs including Backstabbers, Love Train & She Used to be My Girl as their longevity inspired others in coming years.
The Pretenders
8/10
While might not be as remarkable like most others in their heyday, The Pretenders accomplished as the band who served bridges between punk & new wave sounds in the 80's. Chrissie Hynde is regarded among the most important songwriters while influencing countless future female rockers.
Percy Sledge
1/10
A one hit wonder, When a Man Loves a Woman is one of those instantly recognize songs that stood the test of time & it could've been the single that would definitely be enshrined in the singles category if it was created back then. Percy Sledge isn't terrible necessarily but he doesn't have a remarkable career outside of that one hit & his lack of influence as an artist certainly doesn't help either.
U2
10/10
This Irish band defined the 80's & with their guitar driven sound, lyrical content & elaborate tours/live performances, their albums are regarded as the ones who truly shaped music & considered to be those that transcend generations after generations. Sure they lost their spark as they grew, U2 still remains among the most important acts in the history of rock & roll.
The class is ok, U2 stands out the most while others are a hit or miss.
