Performers:
Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five
8/10
As the first hip hop act to be inducted into the RRHOF, Grandmaster Flash & Furious Five's impact on the genre was very huge. The production style & socially conscious lyrics proved a major force in rap music.
R.E.M
10/10
An underground college rock band to global sensations, R.E.M established what would be alternative/indie rock. They went to mainstream with albums as Out of Time & Automatic for the People as well songs like Losing My Religion, Everybody Hurts & The One I Love. Their impact is so huge that the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Sonic Youth would cited the influence of R.E.M on their discography.
The Ronettes
6/10
Not on the same level as The Supremes & others, The Ronettes were an act who pushed the wall of sound production style to masses. That would definitely serve as an inspiration fellow girl groups later on.
Patti Smith
9/10
With her debut album Horses, Patti Smith became an integral figure to punk rock in the 70's, her revolutionary sound & lyrics would leave a mark for countless artists of alternative & indie as years come & go.
Van Halen
9/10
A band who revolutionized guitar playing while having separate runs with different frontman, VH were a band who made hard rock more fun than serious & having one of the most important guitarists at the forefront seems a incredible match.
Pretty remarkable induction class, each of them have contributed to the landscape of rock & roll.
